The main role of the Zoning Board of Appeals is to review and act upon cases where a relaxation of the ordinances is sought or where there is an alleged error in a zoning decision by the Zoning Administrator. Relaxations of the zoning ordinances include variances and conditional uses. The Zoning Administrator interprets and enforces the zoning ordinances. The Board consists of five members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Common Council, for three year terms. The Mayor designates one of the members as Chair. There are two alternate members appointed with staggered terms of three years. The Board meets when called upon by the Chair. Three members constitute a quorum.
